Herald – The Heavy Metal Flagship of Estonia

Herald stands as a true milestone in the Estonian heavy metal landscape — a band that has delivered authentic, powerful, and multilayered pure heavy metal for decades. From their groundbreaking 2005 debut Heavy Metal Wakes the Beast to the more recent 2020 release Kurat, Herald has continually pushed the boundaries of heavy music culture in Estonia.

Released on vinyl in 2021, Kurat added new colors and depth to the band’s sound, proving that even after a quarter of a century, Herald can still surprise and inspire audiences. Known for their explosive live performances, the band leaves a lasting impression on both new fans and seasoned metalheads alike. Their professional stage shows and blazing music videos, such as Heavy Metal Wakes the Beast, are living proof of why Herald has long been considered the flagship of Estonian metal.

In July 2015, Herald unleashed their third full-length album Masin, which went on to win Best Metal Album of 2015 at the Estonian Music Awards. Masin also received the “Album of the Year 2015” award from Linnaleht, while its title track ranked high in Radio 2’s annual Aastahitt chart.

With Masin, a more mature and diverse album compared to their earlier work, the band celebrated its 15th anniversary. The album features twelve tracks — including, for the first time in Herald’s history, a song performed not on electric but on acoustic guitars, complemented by the exotic sound of the didgeridoo.

Back in 2010, Herald released the highly successful album Gaia, following their fan-favorite debut Heavy Metal Wakes the Beast. Since 2009, after major lineup changes, Herald’s shows have become even more captivating and professional — offering a full-throttle rock experience for every true metal fan.
